Bandai Kadomise in Takayama

DO NOT EAT HERE! Save your time and money. The food was terrible! There are much better options around.Let my my loss be your gain, don’t waste a Takayama meal on this restaurant.

Wonderful little place with delicious authentic japanese food from the region, served by the friendliest little ladies. You’ll feel their grandmother-like hospitality the moment you walk in.

It was unexpected to discover here. It was raining, so I hurriedly entered to have dinner.Less is more!!! Simple but traditional and distinctive restaurant. I thought an old lady would be the owner of this restaurant and she impressed me as well. She served us very fast, kindly and attentively.

We were recommended this restaurant by our tour guide, and she popped in and made the same day reservation for us (though she didn’t need to because one of the employees (I believe an owner) speaks very good English! When we returned, we were greeted warmly and the employee who spoke English made sure we understood the menu (which had English description). The meal was EXCELLENT and the service was comfortable like we were great friends/family. I highly recommend this place for anyone, but especially for tourists.

We stumbled across this little place during the day, and decided to head back there for dinner. So glad we did. Great food, lovely service, and a menu that is relatively inexpensive but with variety. Like many eating places in Takayama, it closes at 8pm, last orders 7.45 pm, so head out early for dinner.
